MAKA Kitchen & Cafe in Hove offers a relaxed, approachable spot for locals and visitors seeking more than just a standard coffee run. Situated a short stroll from the beach, it naturally attracts those looking for a casual catch-up place or a quick treat before heading to the seafront.

This cafe balances a straightforward, friendly atmosphere with quality offerings across coffee, baked goods, ice cream, and sandwiches. The coffee here has earned a solid local reputation as reliable and well-crafted, making it a popular grab-and-go stop for beachgoers and commuters alike. Expect a steady flow mid-morning through early afternoon, with occasional busy spells, so timing visits outside typical rush hours can mean a more laid-back experience.

Decided to try Maka ice cream after the positive feedback on social media Treated my12 year old who went for 2 scoops - jaffa cake and belgium chocolate.. Generous portions for under £6. Staff were friendly. Marrocco's have serious competition and there was no queue. Will come again soon.

(6th August) Return for a few times. Happy to see the owners again. ango Lassi is extremely fresh which is summer delight. And like the "blueberry toast" pastry (sorry for my bad, forget the name of the Polish pastry) is very good as well. Just like a little local cafe like Maka, owners are so friendly and welcoming. Like their cookies and cakes (may have Pavlova if fruits are fresh! They are really nice). It is my third time to visit them.

A little gem by the beach. The owners are so friendly and the homemade cakes are great, including vegan options. The coffee is the best around. It gets busy so time your visit well!

They have SO many flavours of ice cream I've not even heard of! Really inventive stuff, scones with cream and jam blended ice cream, dubai chocolate, marmalade and something or other (I can't remember what he said!) And they are very friendly, with some really nice home made pastries

My father is a gourmet icecreamchef, and this would be a an icecream place I'd happily take him too. In my opinion best in Hove, possibly in Bright with Gusto coming close second. Amazing flavours I had scones and jam and staff friendly. Highly recommend
